From the Executive Director

August 2017

Summer is definitely in full swing, and with this hot weather here I hope you have a nice vacation planned or other fun activities scheduled.

A big THANK YOU to everyone attended our IndepenDANCE Day Celebration at the historic O’Donnell House. There’s no place better to watch the City’s spectacular fireworks display than up on the mountain above the Palm Springs Art Museum. We appreciate those who braved the heat to join us for a delightful evening!

I’d also like to remind you that AAP – Food Samaritans has been invited to benefit from Barry Manilow’s 2017 A Gift of Love IV Holiday Charity Concerts at the McCallum Theatre December 12 through 17. Please see the feature story below to learn more. I hope you'll join us and please remember to select AAP – Food Samaritans as your designated charity when making your purchase.

Our Jeannette Rockefeller Angel Program Kickoff Party will take place on Sunday, October 8, 2017. This exciting annual event officially kicks off our season of giving, and we will announce our exciting entertainment for Evening Under the Stars 2018. Please mark your calendar!

Later on in this newsletter we will profile the new slate of officers for the AAP – Food Samaritans Board of Directors. This hard-working group helps guide our organization.  My heartfelt thanks to Tom Gleeson, who is stepping down as President of the board but remaining as a valued member. Congratulations to Tony Marchese, the new president of the board!

Your continued support during the summer means so much to us. Even though it appears as though things are slow, we must still raise funds each month to provide food vouchers to our clients. If you would like to participate in this rewarding work, please contact me to learn how you can help. To our donors, volunteers, community partners, and other supporters, I hope you know how much you are appreciated. Thank you for all that you do!

Sincerely,

Mark Anton, Executive Director

PS – We are planning exciting new events for next season! Please continue to check the AAP website for details throughout the summer.
