Introduction

AIDS Assistance Program

OPERATIONS AND MANAGEMENT
The AIDS Assistance Program was founded in Palm Springs, California in the Spring of 1991. At that time a small group of concerned citizens, led by the late Gloria Greene and Jeannette Rockefeller, provided meals to members of the community with low incomes and suffering with HIV/AIDS. Since that time, the AIDS Assistance Program's client rosters have grown from approximately 20 to well over 470 persons and their dependents.

The AIDS Assistance Program is managed by an eight member volunteer Board of Directors whose primary purpose is to raise the funds the organization and its food voucher program requirements. This year's budgeted food voucher expense is expected to exceed $650,000.

100% of the organization's operational expenses are generated through a growing private donor base, local business support and grant funding. AAP receives no federal or state funding.

Two full-time employees manage the organization from a small office in Palm Springs. All the AAP’s support personnel are drawn from a pool of a few but dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers.

  • Office hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

  • Voucher Distributions are scheduled for every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month from 9:30 AM until 12 Noon. Clients have until Noon the following Wednesday to request mail outs.

  • Benefits Counseling Appointments are made on an individual basis.

  • All scheduled events will be posted on this web site and notifications will be distributed to the client base and/or the donor base as applicable.
